Study task one

Why I chose to study on this programme

I enjoyed the collage last year, I found it extremely useful and helpful. After being here before I was already interested in coming back.

The small amount of students on the course was also an incentive to study on this programme as it means that there would be more opportunities for one to one feedback and advice from the tutors.

There are few illustration courses in the country and after having a look at the courses I chose this one.

It's a brand new course and it seemed exciting to be in the first year.

The reputation of the college was also a factor as it seems to be one of the best to get a job after university.

What I want to learn on this programme

How to do illustration as a profession.

How to use Photoshop or digital media in general. even if I decide that I don't want to use them, they could potentially improve my illustrations.

How to promote and conduct myself as a professional.

To be introduced and instructed on how to use new drawing tools and methods.

To learn about new Illustrators and their methods. In order to perhaps improve my own illustrations.

My strengths

Colour theory.

Character design.

Having a sense of narrative.

Pen work.

Doing quirky drawings with a sense of charm.

Things I would like to improve

All digital methods of working.

My essay writing.

My presentation of my illustrations.

My ability to use wet media like watercolours.

The amount of time I spend on a drawing.

How I will evaluate my progress

I will manage my time by scheduling my work in order to judge how much I should have completed by a certain time.

Daily notes of what I need to be doing for the following evening and next day. This should keep me aware of what I need to be doing and when I need to be doing it.

Discussing my progress with my peers to see if I am on track and to see if they think I should be doing anything I had forgotten or hadn't thought to do.

I will be reviewing each piece of work on my blog.

Getting outside feedback to gain new view points on my work.
